How to choose the right M&P packing, how box size affects the price and how to protect your items on the way.

Good packing protects your items from knocks, weight from other parcels and rain. M&P sells two types of packing at its more than 750 courier centres:

2. Which Packing to Choose

3. How Volumetric Weight Is Worked Out (L x W x H / 5000)
Light but bulky items, such as pillows or soft toys, can cost more than you expect. That is because M&P also counts the size of the box, not just its weight.
Volumetric Weight = (Length × Width × Height in centimeters) / 5,000
Measure the outside of the box, including any bulges or extra wrapping.
For example, a box of shawls measuring 40 cm long, 30 cm wide and 25 cm high.
- Weight on the scale: 2.5 kg
- Volumetric weight: (40 × 30 × 25) ÷ 5,000 = 30,000 ÷ 5,000 = 6.0 kg
- Weight you pay for: 6.0 kg (you pay for the higher figure)
To keep the price down, choose the smallest box that fits your items with enough padding.

5. How to Pack Fragile Items and Electronics
Parcels travel long distances and pass through several hubs. Good padding inside helps them arrive safely:
Wrap each fragile item separately in bubble wrap. Do not let glass or china items touch each other.
Items that move around can break. Fill gaps with crumpled paper or air cushions.
Use strong packing tape along the middle seam and both edges, on the top and the bottom, in an “H” shape.
Put the address and phone number clearly on the top of the box. Put a copy inside the box too, just in case.
